The Corporation of Research and Industrial Development (CRID) is a state-run research institute under the Iraqi Ministry of Industry and Minerals, founded in 1994. CRID is comprised of nine specialized research centers, each contributing to industrial advancement:
1. The Ibn Al-Bitar Research Center, established in 1992, specializes in research on raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry, particularly focusing on plant extraction for medical, nutritional, and industrial uses.
2. The Al-Razi Center for Research and Medical Diagnostic Kits Production, established in 1993, specializes in research and production of medical diagnostic tools for detecting immune, bacterial, viral, and physiological diseases, utilizing modern technologies like genetic engineering and immunochemistry.
3. The Dar Al-Teraz Center for Textile and Leather Research, established in 1993, specializes in conducting scientific research to develop textile and leather industries in Iraq, focusing on modern design technologies, material alternatives, and solving production challenges in collaboration with public and private sector companies.
4. The National Center for Packing and Packaging, established in 1994, specializes in developing packaging materials and printing technologies by utilizing local raw materials, providing technical and economic consultancy, and serving as a certified authority for quality assurance in the packaging sector in Iraq.
5. The Ibn Sina Research Center, established in 1994, specializes in pharmaceutical research and the production of medications and cosmetic formulations, contributing significantly to Iraq's pharmaceutical industry through drug formulation, analysis, and stability studies.
6. The Renewable Energy and Environment Research Center, established in 1981, specializes in conducting research and applications in renewable energy and environmental protection, including designing solar and wind systems, conducting environmental impact assessments, and providing specialized training and consultancy.
7. The Veterinary Drug Research and Production Center, established in 1999, specializes in researching and producing veterinary pharmaceutical formulations locally, reducing reliance on imports, and supporting Iraq's veterinary sector by developing various dosage forms such as powders, injections, and feed additives.
8. The Chemical and Petrochemical Research Center, established in 2002, specializes in conducting applied and theoretical research in chemical and petrochemical industries, supporting production processes and technological development in Iraq.
9. The Iraqi Corrosion Center, established in 2019, specializes in providing scientific and technical solutions to corrosion issues in industrial and oil sectors, focusing on protective coatings, cathodic protection systems, and corrosion inhibitors, while collaborating with national and international organizations to advance expertise in this field.
CRID operates with a collaborative spirit, driving innovation through teamwork and providing essential support to students and researchers across Iraq. With a strong commitment to quality standards and scientific rigor, CRID positions itself as a competitive institution among esteemed research centers globally.
CRID is the publisher of the Iraqi Journal of Industrial Research (IJOIR), which is fully funded by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals of Iraq. The IJOIR was established by CRID in 2014 as part of its research activities. The journal's scope is directly shaped by the diverse research fields of CRID’s centers, ensuring a wide-ranging and comprehensive platform for industrial and scientific research.
